Thoughts on Legacy:
When you think of your legacy and what you are leaving behind, what does that term bring to mind?
The dictionary describes a legacy as : a gift by will especially of money or other personal property: bequest or 2. : something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past as in: the legacy of the ancient philosophers.
Today, legacy has come to describe something much more tangible and certainly not only monetary related. Think of Bill and Malinda Gates and their foundations and their rich legacy of giving; that even affects change in the world.
Instead of leaving money to your favorite charity, what if you could be involved in a project (overseas or at home) today, that changed people’s lives; and that your children and grandchildren could participate in with you not only today; but also in the future after you are gone.
This is the goal of BLI – Building Legacies International – whether the legacy is one you are leaving personally, or one that will be left by your company; your children can benefit from being personally involved with this legacy today or tomorrow.
Just leaving money to your favorite charity maybe a nice thing to do, but wouldn’t it be so much better to see the results of that money and to be able to participate in building something for someone else before you die? What would the impact be on the future of your children and grandchildren who would see how you viewed your legacy today rather than after you are gone by a one-time donation?
Legacy and generosity by people in their lifetimes is becoming the wave of the future and this task can cost as little as $25,000 to $50,000 and create something that really can change the lives of hundreds or thousands.
